The Jets waived underachieving former first-round pick Quinton Coples Monday after their embarrassing 24-17 loss to the Texans.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Coples, in his fourth season, appeared in 10 games while making two starts.

Several Pittsburgh Steelers fans are now seemingly wanting the team to claim Coples off of waivers as a reclamation product.

Coples quickly fell out of favor with the Jets and their new head coach Todd Bowles this season.

Coples had his best moments as a pass rusher, registering a career-high 6.5 sacks in 2014 on his way to 16.5 during his three years with the Jets.

Coples was selected as a defensive end out of the University of North Carolina with the 16th pick in the 2012 National Football League draft. He played defensive end for the Jets as a rookie before being moved to outside linebacker, where he struggled. Jones has 30 tackles and 10.5 sacks this season.
