Jets WRs Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall return to OTAs
We know the Jets have an offer in place for Ryan Fitzpatrick to return to the team and be their starting quarterback this season. As of now, Geno Smith is the starting quarterback for the Jets, and he will be looking to save his career if given the chance to be the starter.

I expect that Fitzpatrick will again leave his heart on the field, but his limitations (arm strength, decision-making) will be far more noticeable this go-round.
“I told coach [Todd Bowles] where I was, what I was doing, that I was with my family”, Decker said, referring to his wife, country singer Jessie James Decker, and the couple’s two young children.
“Just nice to nice to get them back in general”, said Jets head coach Todd Bowles on the importance of getting Decker and Marshall back to work with Smith.
Who said the daytime soap opera was dead?
“You guys know how I feel about Ryan”, he said.
That said, I would have to mention the fact that the Jets had a great opportunity to be a playoff team past year and only needed to beat a 7-8 Bills team in the regular season finale.
Mehta’s report comes a day after the Daily News’ Gary Myers wrote, “The Daily News has learned Fitzpatrick is prepared to end his contract stalemate by letting the Jets know he will take a one-year deal for $12 million guaranteed”.
Fitzpatrick, 33, led the Jets to a 10-6 finish last season, but imploded with three interceptions in the regular season finale against the Bills as NY missed the playoffs.
If Fitzpatrick is dropped after this season, the remaining $6 million (reduced by $3 million when the guarantee was eliminated) of the signing bonus would be forced onto 2017’s cap.
The latest is that apparently, Fitzpatrick countered the offer by the Jets by saying he would prefer to do a one-year deal for $12M. “Whether you’re suspended, whether it’s a contract, whether it’s an injury, they’re still not here”.
On Wednesday, Smith, working with the first-team offense, continued to look sharp-something Jets fans are well accustomed to in training camp and the preseason.
Marshall said he has been impressed by what he has seen from Smith.
“There’s a sense of poise, comfort and it was pretty good to watch him kind of manage the situation”.

Thankfully for everyone, it’s June and both sides have a couple of months to figure this out. The arrival of Hackenberg was not to bring him in for three to four years of clipboard duty, the Jets envision him as their quarterback of the future. “I mean, he knows how I feel about him and the progress that he was making past year before the preseason games”. “He’s seeing a whole boat load of defenses that’s coming at him daily and there’s going to be a growth period”. But there was still a price to pay for turning the ball over.
