The attorney general will face Eric Greitens in November, who clinched the Republican primary.

Polls show a tight race in the Republican primary for governor.

“At a time when our country faces uncertainty at home and overseas, Commander Greitens’ service and leadership proves he is the right man for the job”, said Matt Brooks, the coalition’s executive director. Greitens, a former Navy SEAL, ended the night with a strong lead over Kinder.

The governor’s race has attracted a lot of interest, because Democratic incumbent Jay Nixon is prohibited by term limits from running again.

His Democratic opponent, Chris Koster, is also a firm supporter of gun rights.

In a March 2015 interview, Greitens told The Forward that he is “proud to be Jewish”, and that he saw his entry into politics as an extension of the Jewish mandate of tikkun olam. Greitens got $1 million from California venture capitalist Michael Goguen, who has been sued by a woman alleging he sexually abused her for years. Goguen has denied the allegations.

Greitens’ Republican rivals called on him to return the money, but Greitens said he won’t rush to judgment as the case is pending. “The ads will be paid for by the very same conservative politicians who once chose me as their leader”. He attended the Democratic National Convention in Denver in 2008 for then presidential-nominee Barack Obama’s speech.

The number one topic of tonight’s discussion was republican gubernatorial candidate, Eric Greitens.

Before any attack ad was released, Koster announced to his supporters, “Tomorrow morning, you will see the ads against me begin, telling you what a awful person I am”.
