Jill Soloway Gives Heartfelt Speech About Transgender Equality After Emmy Win

“We hope that Hollywood and the industry will continue to embrace telling the all too important stories that have been written and acted, by and for our transgender community”, he told B&C/Multichannel News. “We don’t have a trans tipping point yet, we have a trans problem”, she said, urging the audience to go to transequality.org and support the Trans Equality bill.

Jeffrey Tambor became the first actor ever to win an Emmy for playing a trans character, and when accepting his statue for lead actor in a comedy, he recognized the importance of the moment. Tambor thanked Zackary Drucker, Jenny Boyland, and Van Barnes-transgender women and activists who have all been instrumental in consulting on Transparent.
