Jim Caldwell: Stafford is sore, “we’ll see” if he plays this week

And when he was a rookie eight years ago, Peterson went against Tomlinson’s San Diego Chargers for the first time. He became a fan favorite in Detroit, and was frequently a trending topic on twitter during Lions games.

The Denver Broncos are 2-0 and commence a usual week of preparation prior to a game against the Detroit Lions with a lead atop the AFC West and an additional few days to rest their wounds after a short week resulted in a 31-24 win against the Kansas City Chiefs September 17. So, hey, if the pattern holds, that’s pretty good news for the Vikings, eh? The young athlete hit Kyle Rudolph to get the Vikings on the board early. The veteran wideout recorded an wonderful 207-yard performance versus the Vikings in 2012 and has four touchdowns in his last five meetings.

Miscommunication plagued the first Lions drive.

Q: Do you think those hits on Matthew Stafford added up and took a toll on him? Vikings lead series, 69-36-2. Stafford has thrown 83 passes through two games this year. After the game, he had X-rays on his ribs and chest. Peterson is still the top rusher in the National Football League and he can perform like this weekly if he is given the opportunity. Instead they saw a surprisingly inaccurate quarterback and Peterson not even touching the ball. Detroit was down two scores.

The Vikings had 10 penalties in that game.

Thomas still hasn’t found the end zone yet, but that should simply be a matter of time. One more for 20.

Despite the solid line, Manning still looked a little out-of-sorts on the field. Calvin Johnson in turn has one touchdown catch, in three catches over 25 yards.

Somehow, by the end of the half, the Lions were back in the game.

Missed blocks by Cornelius Lucas would prevent the Lions from getting anywhere. The Lions find themselves in the company of four other teams that won ten or more games in 2014 that have yet to win a game in 2015. He knocked one ball down in the passing game. On third-and-six Teddy would once again make moves on Ihedigbo as he raced for a first-and-goal at the two.

As we said, Zimmer wanted to see his team play more physically in this game, and they certainly did as they were told. The two-point conversion run was no good and Minnesota recovered the onside kick. He also made seven tackles, including three for a loss. A Stafford deep ball to Johnson was picked off but erased by Xavier Rhodes‘ pass interference. Mallett received the start in Week 2, but did not perform up to standards as he finished 27 of 58 for 244 yards and a touchdown to along with an interception.

Bottom line: Stafford got his butt kicked by the Vikings, and he wasn’t getting much support from his teammates on the field – or on the sidelines. The touchdown catch by Johnson, a close call, was upheld. The whole “take what the defense gives you” philosophy is garbage. For all the times Peterson put the ball on the ground, the Lions would fail to capitalize. “This just shows how much respect this team has for Matthew Stafford. Not a lot”.

The Lions – and every other team – are catching Manning on the downslope of his career.
