Jim Carrey was sued Monday for wrongful death by the family of his late girlfriend Cathriona White, with the woman’s estranged husband claiming the actor illegally obtained and provided the prescription medications that led to her death previous year.
The Liar Liar actor enjoyed a on/off relationship with Cathriona White and just three days after their romance ended past year, Catriona was found dead following a drug overdose. The actor, he alleges, sent a text message to White’s phone after her death saying he misplaced his pills in a bid to make it look like she took them without him knowing.
Once one of the biggest stars in the world, Jim Carrey has recently been faced with controversy more than he has a box office hit.
“I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved”, he said.
“Cat’s troubles were born long before I met her and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone’s control”, the actor said.
Additionally, White had problems long before she was in a relationship with the thespian. “I really hope that someday soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace”, the statement continued.
In September 2015, Cathriona White, girlfriend of amusing man Jim Carrey, died unexpectedly of an apparent suicide – devastating friends, family and the celebrated actor.
In addition, Carrey’s attorney, Marty Singer, described the lawsuit in a statement to TheWrap as “an outlandish shakedown”, stating that the actor’s prescriptions were legally obtained medications, and that aliases are commonly used by actors for prescriptions.

He said in a statement: “Jim never supplied his prescription medications to Ms. White coming to light”, Avenatti said.
He added, “She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled”.

The case – for violation of the drug dealer liability act and wrongful death – seeks unspecified damages as well as reimbursement for funeral expenses and lawyer’s fees. At the time, her death was confirmed to be a suicide.
