Jim Furyk shoots record 58 on PGA Tour
“That putt, I’ll remember that one forever”, Knox said, before turning his thoughts to the Ryder Cup. “I could have ripped my shirt off”.

It was Knox’s second win on the US PGA Tour, but his first on American soil after winning last year’s HSBC Champions in China.
The 23-year-old posted a 15-under 195 total, three ahead of Scotland’s Russell Knox (64), South African Tyrone Van Aswegen (65) and American Russell Henley (65).
Furyk finished in a tie for fifth at 11 under.
Seong took the lead with a birdie on the par-5 25th hole and won the par-4 29th with a birdie for a 2-up advantage.
Things went according to plan at the 401-yard, par-four No. 17, reaching the green in two after a 230-yard tee shot found the fairway and his 168-yard second shot left him a 40-foot putt for birdie. He didn’t tear his shirt off, but did send his hat flying in celebration. “I make a par there, maybe Russ doesn’t make that putt”.
“I mean, golf is so hard, you lose every week pretty much, and to make that putt, I mean, it’s just the greatest feeling ever. I’m glad it went in”. Furyk’s round Sunday included seven consecutive birdies and an 8-under 27 on the front nine. He shot 3-over 73 Thursday and 2-over 72 Saturday.
Furyk was already one of six golfers to have shot a 59, which he did at the second round of the BMW Championship in 2013.
Aug 7, 2016; Cromwell, CT, USA; Jim Furyk reacts with his caddie after shooting a PGA tour record 58 after the final round of the 2016 Travelers Championship golf tournament at TPC River Highlands. “So to hold it on the PGA Tour is phenomenal”, Furyk said.
It was tougher for the leaders in the afternoon.
Just three weeks after Goydos became the fourth player to break 60, Appleby became the fifth as the Australian emulated Duval and carded a final-round 59 to clinch a one-shot win over Jeff Overton. He shot a 31 on the back nine in his closing round. Furyk then birdied four holes on the back nine, with no bogeys, to record the seventh round under 60 in PGA Tour history.
The PGA Tour now heads to Silvis in IL for the rescheduled John Deere Classic.
“They showed me more love than they ever have throughout my career here”, Kelly said. She was trying to become the second player to win the tournament and NCAA individual title in the same year. After a par on 15, he just missed the water by a few inches with his tee shot on 16. He shot a classy 66 to end at 10 under, just four behind Knox and leaving him to rue his third-round 71. Knox started the day at 12 under but took over the lead on the back nine as Berger was in the middle of his struggles. In match one, Tiffany Kang of Suwanee earned all three points for Georgia with her win over Anna Grace Brock of Greenwood, S.C., 3 and 1.
Bubba Watson, the 2010 and 2015 Travelers champion, closed with a 68 to finish tied for 25th at 273.

It might be one of the best rounds hardly anyone saw. “Next week might help me get even further in the right direction or it could happen next week”.
