Four college students were announced as winners of the NASCAR Chevrolet Diversity Scholarship Contest today at Texas Motor Speedway.

For Team Penske, on the other hand, Sunday’s race could be more aptly named the Heartbreak 500. “Couldn’t be more pleased with the position we got right now”.

“I am pumped about this race. I don’t know if that risk is worth taking at this point of the game”. I just kept the pressure on him, kept searching for line.

The cost of cancelled practices on Saturday showed early and often as caution, followed caution, followed caution mostly for blown tires early in the race.

Chase drivers Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards finished third through fifth. “But he was way faster that last run….”

Having only just scrapped into the Eliminator Round of the Chase play-offs by the skin of his teeth, Busch is now in second place in the points standings and noted that he wasn’t under pressure to go all-out for a win this weekend. When the series heads to Phoenix next Sunday, they’ll most likely need to earn the win to fight for the title at Homestead. But for now, let’s enjoy a fairly controversy-free race and a great battle between two of the best in the sport.

“We had a damn near flawless day”. “We’ll have to go to work and try to figure it out”.

Johnson continued to pull away from Keslowski to seal his first win since Dover in May. “The good news is we have that opportunity”. Maybe I’ll change my mind [but] I don’t know what I would have done differently or could have done differently. We were both racing hard.

“I did everything I could to hold him off, but he was way faster that last run”.

Brad Keselowski started first, and for a majority of the race never looked back. Not knowing what that might be at this moment makes a little bit easier to digest. “The Haas Automation Chevrolet was really good off the truck in race trim and I’m looking forward to the race on Sunday”. Dale Earnhardt Jr. also had a tire issue, as he had to make an unscheduled pit stop. “Starting closer to the front is great for your pit selection, but there is a lot of grooves and room here to race, so you can pass and have fun”.

“The front took off on the exit of 2 on the last run”, commented Patrick. “So we didn’t get quite as good of a lap as we wanted to”.

“That was decent”, said Biffle. “Just a loose wheel and the power steering killed us”. That wreck, together with his wreck last weekend, means that Logano absolutely needs to win next week at Phoenix if he wants to be one of the four drivers to race for the champonship at Homestead-Miami.

“We are just lacking speed”, he sighed.

Edwards is a spot ahead of Keselowski, who has described himself as being in a “must-win situation”. “I am very proud of our team”. “I think everyone will be on pretty decent behavior because of that”. I’m just so excited for everybody back at Hendrick Motorsports for digging in and working hard.
