Part of this decision may have been to see how his offensive tackles held up on an island without help. That continued Thursday night. The Dolphins open the season at home with two divisional games in Weeks 3 and 4 with the Bills and Jets and then the team lays against the Titans on the road.
Outside of the sloppy showing by the starters, there were some strong individual performances.

On Wednesday, the Bears released their first depth chart of the season. This time, it was the second team – with the exception of defensive end Jarvis Jenkins and inside linebackers Shea McClellin and Jones, who totaled two tackles apiece. He also forced and recovered a fumble and had a pass deflection. There is no hiding the fact that the Bears are installing a new defense and there will be hiccups as they were on display in the first quarter with a lack of physicality in the secondary.

The Choice (and remember, death is not an option): A Bears safety beaten deep after getting suckered on a gadget play the way Brock Vereen was about a week into camp or the quarterback failing to convert a deep opportunity the way Cutler did on that play? However, Clausen was given extensive playing time and made the most of it. Casting statistics aside, he was decisive with his reads and delivered the ball on time, accurately and kept it out of harm’s way.

It’s encouraging to see Sutton perform like this in the preseason especially after a lot of people have written him off.
