Jimmy Fallon Defends Donald Trump Interview: ‘I’m Never Too Hard on Anyone’
Jimmy Fallon defended his interview with Donald Trump last week, which came under fire for being too soft on the Republican presidential candidate.

Well, many argue that the way Fallon slathered on praise and tousled Trump’s hair only served to humanize a risky demagogue. TMZ’s cameras caught up with Fallon following Sunday night’s Emmy Awards, where he had been nominated for Outstanding Variety Series (but lost out to John Oliver, who definitely would not have tousled Trump’s hair).
Fallon called Trump a “good sport” for participating in the bit and that he asked the candidate’s permission before the segment because he’s not “one of those ‘Gotcha!’ people”.
Asked what the potential next Leader of the Free World’s hair felt like, Fallon replied, “You know in Easter baskets, that grass they have in the Easter baskets?” In typical Fallon fashion, he attempted to smooth things over with a exhausted cover-up.
“Then you, you built a wall/ A 20-foot wall so I couldn’t see”, the lyrics of the song read. Fallon mumbled with a slight smile.

“The Tonight Show” host laughed off the criticism while speaking with TMZ after the Emmys, insisting that he’s “never too hard on anyone”. Just get out there and vote. “Vote, vote, vote. Register, vote vote vote”.
