Jimmy Fallon set to host 2017 Golden Globe Awards

NBC has announced that its Tonight Show golden boy, Jimmy Fallon, will host this year’s Golden Globe Awards.

The 41-year-old comedian follows acerbic British comedian Ricky Gervais who earlier this year hosted the Golden Globes for a fourth time.

The Hollywood Foreign Press has announced that Jimmy Fallon will lend his skills to this year’s Golden Globe Awards show on NBC, Sunday, January 8, 2017, from 8 to 11 p.m. ET.

Fallon, who’s a close friend of Poehler and Fey from their time on Saturday Night Live together, will surely be one of the best hosts the Golden Globes has ever seen. And yes, Jimmy Fallon surely knows how to paint smiles and laughter on his guests. The Tonight Show host is also leading the late-night pack in ratings, for the most part, so he must be doing something right. The Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live on January 8, 2017. The winners are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and presents awards for both motion picture and television achievements.

Gervais returned for the 2016 awards, though his most recent outing couldn’t quite match up to the combo of Fey and Poehler. Nominations for the Golden Globes will be announced Monday, Dec. 12.
