The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled, too, over on another channel.

Television has become a year-round premiere machine, with new seasons popping up wherever they seem to fit, but the bulk of new shows still kick off in mid- to late September.

Note: Winners will be added here as they come in on Sunday night. And before that happens, the Emmys ask us to pause and remember the greatness of the previous year (or the period from June 1, 2015, to May 31, 2016, inclusive). So many great TV shows have been airing over the past year, but only a select few of them will come away as Emmy Award winners after Sunday night.

Sterling K. Brown portrays Christopher Darden (left) and Cuba Gooding Jr. portrays O.J. Simpson in a scene from “The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.” Gooding was nominated for outstanding actor in a limited series or movie for his role.

In honor of this year’s Emmy Awards, and especially Kimmel’s return to the hosting job, we’ve rounded up our favorite hosting moments all the way from Ellen DeGeneres’s hosting gig in 2001, Conan O’Brien’s multiple years on stage, and of course Neil Patrick Harris’s unbelievable opening musical number.

Who will win? For comedy series, it’s a tough field. It could definitely repeat in this category.

As of this past weekend, the hit HBO series has officially been awarded more Emmys than any other drama in television history. However, the argument could be made that the quality of shows is improving because of this, as made evident by shows like Game of Thrones and House of Cards.

The massive red carpet — more like a red sidewalk, really — will cover the entire plaza surrounding the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
