Jimmy Kimmel’s Emmy hosting was absolutely memorable!
Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel hosted the festivities for the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards and kicked off the ceremony by spoofing the O.J. Simpson infamous freeway chase, but with Malcom Jamal Warner as the driver and Kimmel rushing to get to the big dance courtesy of the “Modern Family” cast, and then a drive with James Corden and the duo did a bit of carpool karaoke.

For the second year “Game of Thrones” took home the Emmy for outstanding drama series. But a solid majority of those who watched him clearly considered him the most worthy-likely what allowed him to overtake the more traditional choices.
This year, however, the series lost in the drama acting categories, which were far from predictable.
The record is particularly impressive considering Thrones has “only” been on six seasons, while Fraiser was on for 11. “The first person we’re throwing over it is Mark Burnett”.
Supporting Actress, Comedy Series: Kate McKinnon, “Saturday Night Live”.
Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Drama: Susanne Bier, “The Night Manager”.
Jimmy Kimmel blamed television stardom for Trump’s presidential run: “Many have asked who’s to blame for Donald Trump and I’ll tell you who, he’s sitting right there, that guy: Mark Burnett. If it wasn’t for television, would Donald Trump be running for president? No”. “I’d also like to take this opportunity to personally apologise for the current political climate”. “Our show started out as a political satire”, she said, “but it now feels more like a sobering documentary”. Apart from this, Veep took up the award for Outstanding Comedy Series surprisingly edging out a hilarious season 3 of HBO’s Silicon Valley and Aziz Ansari’s Netflix exclusive Master of None.
Bier, the only female nominee in the category, who is tipped to helm the next James Bond blockbuster, told BBC Breakfast: “This is such a traditional men’s world, and I hope the fact a woman director has won this prestigious prize is going to mean that more non-conventional series and movies are going to be directed by women”.
“Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus won her fifth straight Emmy for her role in the satirical White House comedy in which she plays a graspingly ambitious and inept president battling to stay in power. The show has two shortened seasons left – the next of which will likely miss the cutoff for next year’s Emmys, so we’ll have a new best drama victor for at least one year. So when Smith won for best supporting actress, Kimmel pulled a Kanye West and, unscripted and hilariously, returned to the stage to snag the trophy himself.
Kimmel had suggested, ahead of tonight’s awards ceremony, he would not go in for politics too heavily because viewers have “probably had an ass full of that kind of stuff on every show for the last 18 to 94 months”.
The new way to say I love you, Emmy-style, is “you rock my chain”, which is a lyric reference from Jay-Z to, naturally, Beyonce.

“The People v. O.J. Simpson”, FX’s 10-hour dramatization of the former football player’s 1995 double murder trial and sensational acquittal won nine Emmys, including for best limited series and for actors Sarah Paulson, Courtney B. Vance and Sterling K. Brown. But she knew whom to credit.
