Jio 4G impact: BSNL offers one GB for less than Rs 1

With the launch of the Reliance Jio 4G service that offers 4G data at the cheapest price right now in India, all the other operators are slashing their tariff plans to retain their users.

BSNL’s “Experience Unlimited BB 249” broadband plan is better than Jio in terms that it does not have any limit on how much data consumers can use and the speed will remain the same throughout the month. Actually, Reliance Jio is offering Rs 50 per GB data plan, and to tackle the Customer’s switch, BSNL is looking to hook new customers to its wireline broadband offering. If a subscriber uses this plan continuously in a month, by just paying Rs.249, they can download up to 300GB. Upon calculation, you will be able to know that per GB of data download cost comes out as less than Re.

BSNL’s new plan -Experience Unlimited BB 249 will start from September 9, 2016. The company’s chairman and MD Anupam Shrivastava said in a statement that consumers will get reliable speeds at 2Mbps under its new plan.

Shrivastava added that BSNL is the only operator offering lowest per GB data download cost plan under broadband services in the country.

By paying only Rs. 249, users can enjoy unlimited downloading data through broadband, without worrying about the limitation. This is a promotional plan that will be valid for only 6 months and after that the customers will be migrated to any regular plan based on their choice.

Meanwhile, BSNL also said that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Telecom Department regarding performance-based targets assigned to the telecom PSU. According to BSNL, on the basis of annual achievement vis-a-vis targets of the MoU, DPE evaluates company’s performance and accordingly refreshes the rating table.

The new wireline broadband, which has the potential to reduce the competition from Reliance Jio’s 4G, will be available from September 9.
