Pressed about what kind of game Spyjinx is, Mustard called it “a unique blend between kind of like an action-strategy game mixed with really dynamic world-building and a healthy dose of RPG character development”.
“It really will need to be experienced, and then I think, it will be defined by what it is”, says Abrams in the video.
Bad Robot, Abrams’ production company, will collaborate with Chair Entertainment on this title. The result has been something beyond any of our expectations.
He’s probably pretty busy putting the finishing touches to the first of his three new Star Wars movies – not to mention filming the second one – but JJ Abrams has already started on his next big project.
“Bad Robot is uniquely talented at making you deeply care about characters and the trials they experience”, said ChAIR co-founder Donald Mustard.
This new video game is known as Spyjinx and will be developed on Unreal Engine 4. The filmmaker took the stage at DICE 2013 with Valve boss Gabe Newell for a lively discussion that ended with a promised collaboration that would lead to Portal and Half-Life films.
