JJ Abrams: No ‘Star Trek’ recasting for Yelchin
“Having seen the film, I think it’s nonchalant posture toward it is the best thing about it. It’s news now, but if you watch the film 10 years from now you won’t even think about it”.

Whatever the future holds for Chekov, let’s hope Star Trek Beyond provides Anton Yelchin with a proper farewell.
Should the character be recast or should Star Trek Beyond be Chekov’s last mission until the next reboot?
The remaining Star Trek movie cast is also expected to return, with the sad exception of Anton Yelchin as Chekhov – the actor was killed last month in a freak auto accident.
STAR Trek Beyond is fun, fast and, at times, furious thanks to new direction from Justin Lin.
Star Trek Beyond is the latest in the Abrams’ Trek series, which kicked off in 2009. As for Chekov, Abrams said they’ve started thinking about how to deal with his absence in the continuing story, but that it’s also “too early to talk about”.
Director Justin Li who has been promoting “Star Trek Beyond” commented on the adaptation of the classic samurai manga “Lone Wolf and Cub”.
Leonard Nimoy, the only member of the seminal TV series to join the rebooted film franchise as Spock Prime, died in February 2015 at 83 before the third Trek film began shooting.
Chris Hemsworth was announced as returning to the franchise this week and will appear in the upcoming fourth installment. Abrams on Yelchin’s passing, “We knew going into this movie it would be a bit of a heartbreak just because of Leonard [Nimoy]”, Abrams added.
“Doing this one he really wanted to be an alien, so I said “OK”.
“In the first two films he was very much kind of an angry, young man raging against the system that had taken his father”, Pine said about the iconic Starfleet captain he portrays.

Karl Urban: “For me, personally, I feel like this is the most well rounded, defined version of the character that I’ve had the opportunity to play”.
