JJ Watt Activated By Texans, Expected To Play In Week 1
Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien says that injured star J.J. Watt is feeling much better and that it “looks decent” for him to play in the season opener against Chicago on September 11. Watt underwent back surgery in late July and his status for Week 1 seemed iffy through August. Watt could play in the regular season opener against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, September 11.

Coach Bill O’Brien said Friday that Watt was doing much better than a couple of weeks ago and that it looks “looks decent” for him to play against the Bears. And, on Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Watt is indeed expected to play in that game.
Watt missed all of the preseason after having back surgery, but the timetable associated with that procedure always put him on the fringe of being ready for Week 1. Before the Texans faced the Cardinals in their third preseason game Watt passed his conditioning test. I know I won’t be able to respond directly to everyone, so I wanted to write one note to all of you to say thank you. He also had groin surgery in January, making his quick recovery even more remarkable.

Texans are looking for breakout season from Clowney, who shined this preseason after failing to produce in first two injury-plagued years. “So I’m just trying to keep that going and I think I’ll be out there pretty soon”.
