JJ Watt passed physical and is ready for practice Monday

The signs have pointed to defensive end J.J. Watt could be in uniform when the Houston Texans open the season September 11 versus the Chicago Bears. On Friday, O’Brien said he did not have an update on Brown.

The Texans have also been without tackles Derek Newton (hamstring) and Duane Brown (quadriceps) during training camp. “It’s always good to have your team as close to full strength as possible”.

The Houston Texans defensive end and three-time National Football League defensive player of the year will be activated by the Texans as he’s made a “speedy recovery” from surgery to fix a herniated disk, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle said. O’Brien didn’t provide many details on what he saw from Watt and Newton, but did say that they were “working well”.

Monday brought further reason to believe that the three-time Defensive Player of the Year will be in his customary spot on the defensive line.

Brown tore his quadriceps a year ago in the Texans’ regular season finale against the Jaguars. I don’t plan on missing my first game now, but I can’t promise it. He had surgery abdominal surgery in January.

“It’s like night and day”, he said of the progress he has made in the last month. “I’m going to do everything I can”.
