Fans of the series flocked to bookstores around the world wearing wizard hats and capes to get their hands on a copy.

Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling, has revealed that the new play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be the final story for the wizard.
Rowling would go on to confirm that she “never wanted to write another novel”, but feels like this play “will give the fans something special”.
The story of the adolescent Harry Potter began with the novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 1997 and concluded in 2007 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Instead, it’s the script of a stage production of the same name, now running in London. While she is thrilled to see the story brought to life so beautifully, for her the story of the character is now over. Even though it’s made its official debut, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has yet to be seen by the vast majority of Potter fans out there, and the Fantastic Beasts series hasn’t dropped yet.
J.K. Rowling was asked during the play’s premiere in London if the book will be a start of a new “Harry Potter” series in the future. However, it appears that Rowling is finally done writing stories about Harry Potter himself.
In Book 8, we find a grown up Harry, overworked Ministry of Magic employee and father of 3 children: James Sirius, Lily and Albus Severus. Sonia Friedman, a co-producer on the play said that she also has big hopes for this production.
The play, which will be staged in two parts, is already sold out well into 2017, and has now extended its run to next December.

Meanwhile, “Harry Potter” spin-off “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” starring Eddie Redmayne will hit US theaters on November 18.
