Another youth, Yawar Bhat, died in security forces’ action after protestors indulged in stone pelting at Botengoo in Anantnag district, the official said.
Sources told News gathering agency Global News Service (GNS) that at least six persons sustained injuries after police and paramilitary forces used tear smoke shells and pellets to quell the protesters at Tukuru village. Elaborating upon the sensitivities involved, they said the Army had reduced its footprint in the rural areas over the last few years after 2010 phase of violence.
“We don’t operate anywhere internally on our own”, he said.
Similar restrictions have been imposed in all other nine districts of the valley besides some other law and order vulnerable towns.
Normal life remained crippled due to curfew and the shutdown call by separatists groups.
The situation across the Valley continues to be tense, he added. Some of the areas in the outskirts and civil lines of Srinagar witnessed increased movement of private vehicles and auto-rickshaws on Sunday morning, while some shops selling essentials were also open in view of the upcoming Eid festival.

The government’s options have been drastically reduced by the fact that Kashmiri separatists, who rebuffed an attempt by some parliamentarians to reach out, are also trying to keep alive the protests, which began on July 8 after Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani was killed.
