Mr Barratt told Ford’s staff: ” Our primary interest is in maintaining stability and avoiding uncertainty in the trading environment so we can continue to build an even stronger business and create a more secure future for our nearly 14,000 employees in the United Kingdom and for our business in Europe.
“Profit before tax was 1.56 billion pounds after an exceptional charge for the Tianjin Port explosion of 157 million pounds (net of insurance and other expected recoveries to date) with strong free cash flow of 791 million pounds after total investment spending of 3.14 billion pounds. This will help us broaden the appeal of this fabulous premium versatile SUV for customers who are more inclined towards driving a vehicle with a powerful petrol engine at its heart along with Land Rover’s legendary off-road capability and reliability – a flawless combination of performance, capability and composure”.
India today launched the petrol version of its popular SUV – the Discovery Sport. It was planned for later. The launch of the new variant follows the Supreme Court ban on sales of diesel vehicles with engines over 2 litres in the National Capital region.
Ken Gregor, chief financial officer of Jaguar Land Rover, which runs a huge plant in Halewood, said: “Remaining in the European Union – our largest market – will increase Jaguar Land Rover’s chances to grow, create jobs and attract investment in future technologies”. The petrol variant Discovery Sport is similar to the diesel models and continue to give signature offerings of Land Rover like Dynamic stability Control, Roll stability control, Hill Descent control, Electronic Traction Control and Command driving position.
“We believe the best way of achieving this is for the United Kingdom to remain a member of a reformed EU”. Presently Land Rover’s Discovery Sport is the most affordable auto available in India from British SUV manufacturers and is available with 5 plus 2 seating options.
The new Range Rover Discovery Sport was launched in India during September 2015. On the sales expectations of the company this fiscal, Suri said: “In the first quarter, we sold over 1,000 units registering a growth of 45 per cent over the same period previous year. This year, we are looking at double digit growth”.
Mr. Suri said the company continued to remain positive about the Indian market. Now the British SUV manufacturer’s most affordable product in the country, the Discovery Sport was introduced with a 5+2 seating option.
