I am not the country’s president but of the JNU Students’ Union. “I thank the Delhi Police”, said Kumar, who was arrested after being accused of sedition.

“JNU is an institution of worldwide repute, enviable record and history”, he haid said. Some rights campaigners say the Hindu nationalist government is using a British-era sedition law to clamp down on dissent. “I want to tell this to the country’s people that we study at the JNU with subsidy generated from the taxes paid by you”. He said Guru is not his “idol” but Rohith Vemula, the Hyderabad Central University student who committed suicide, is.
The posters in Hindi read, “Whoever shoots JNUSU president and traitor Kanhaiya Kumar will be rewarded Rs 11 lakh from the Poorvanchal Sena”.
The court had also directed Kumar to be available for investigation when the Delhi police calls him in.
Sinha dubbed Kanhaiya, who is facing sedition charges for participating in a JNU event held to commemorate the death anniversary of terrorist Afzal Guru, as “son of Bihar ” , who delivered a good and thought-provoking speech in the JNU campus after being released from Tihar jail”.
While the BJP are strictly against Kanhaiya, the oppositions like Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Sitaram Yechury are praising the Students leader for his speech in the university after the release.
Kanhaiya Kumar said, “Despite all efforts, they (government) has not been able to fabricate truth”.
Kanhaiya, also reiterated what his followers and supporters have been claiming for long that he never raised any slogan which goes against the constitution of the country and that a section of media indulged in the malpractice of doctoring videos to paint him in a wrong light.
In a speech addressed to students which appeared a no-holds-barred attack on the government and was targetted particularly at Narendra Modi, Kanhaiya said: “PM Modi spoke about Stalin and Khrushchev today in Parliament”.
Amid speculation about his political ambitions, Mr Kumar made it clear at a press conference on Friday, “I am not a politician, I am a student”.

The Delhi High Court had granted him interim bail for six months late last evening, imposing conditions that include an undertaking that he will not take part in any unlawful or “anti-national” activities. Two more students, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya have been arrested on the same charges.
