JNU Row: In Campus Meltdown, Netas Descend
Notably, JNU unit of ABVP led by JNUSU Jt Secretary has raised objection with various students organisations including All India Students Association and All India Students Federation being a part of the event. A court in Delhi has sent him to police custody after hearing a witness and watching a video. But matured as he is now, that he visited the campus extending a healing touch to those who are frought with fear over police action and lost confidence to speak out anything against issues like Kashmir or Hindutva.

Meanwhile, the All-Parties Hurriyet Conference (G) warned the Indian authorities for taking any action against the Kashmiri students of JNU for holding an event on the anniversary of Kashmiri martyr Guru. Singh’s word pushed the Press Club of India also to file a complaint against a group of Delhi University professors, including Parliament attack accused S A R Geelani for organising a seminar on its premises to honour Guru.
He was accompanied by CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury, CPI’s D Raja and Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi, besides Ajay Maken and Anand Sharma from the Congress. The ABVP mobbed Gandhi’s motorcade when he was leaving the campus and the Congress leader had to be escorted out in a different vehicle from an undisclosed gate.
“The protest at JNU is anti-national and it amounts to betrayal to the country and should be dealt with strictly”.
While there was no reaction from senior BJP leaders, party spokesperson, Nalin Kohli questioned Rahul Gandhi’s definition of nationalism. “A terrorist, who targeted Parliament – the temple of Indian democracy, is being glorified by anti-nationals and Rahul is supporting them. But the guilty will not be spared”.
“Police has released a list of 20 students, including daughter of D. Raja, who have been slapped with sedition charges without enquiry”, Yechuri said.
The Delhi Police south district, which registered an FIR under the Indian Penal Code section relating to sedition over alleged remarks made earlier this week at a gathering of JNU students, has asked the police brass to transfer the case to the Special Cell or the National Investigation Agency since “links between the JNU students and terrorist Afzal Guru” need to be probed. “The BJP condemns it”, Sharma said.
“The way Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and BJP government have worked in tandem in the whole affair, it’s clear that they are working towards a mission to rid the varsity off its character”.
On a day when ex-servicemen threatened to return their Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) degrees if the alleged anti-national activities continued on the campus, high drama prevailed on Saturday when Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who demanded the release of Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, was greeted with black flags apparently by ABVP activists.
Rahul joined by left party leaders virtually drew parallel with the regime of Hitler, accusing NDA of “suppressing” students’ voice and telling students “don’t let those bullies push you around”.

Responding to it, Gandhi said,”People who showed black flag on my face, I feel proud that in my country they have the right to show black flag”.
