Jodie Foster honoured to work with Julia Roberts
Jodie, 53, was recognised for her acting and directorial efforts as she prepares to celebrate the release of Money Monster, her new movie with George Clooney and Julia Roberts, and she was grateful to finally have a project big enough to be worthy of receiving her star. “I thought she was insane to be helming me and George [Clooney] – it’s like trying to keep puppies in a box”.

The magazine’s seemingly phony source adds, “Amal was already so paranoid about Julia, she visited the Money Monster set several times”.
“There’s something wonderful about being the conductor and hearing all the pieces – the drums and the cymbals and the piano and the violin – and experiencing it completely, but being able to say, like, ‘You were rushing”. She did commercials for brands like Coppertone and Crest, then a series of small TV roles.
As a director, Foster said that the movie was an “experiment” to figure out how to utilize the crime and financial setting as a backdrop while also incorporating strong character dynamics and powerful dialogues. I would just go insane.
Experts estimate the Jodie Foster-directed thriller will debut somewhere between $10-and-$15 million.
Throw in the fact that the consoles and chairs in the 8-by-15-foot TV control room space couldn’t be moved because of the need to match the jigsaw puzzle pieces and you can see why Foster praises the creative freedom given to her by Clooney and Heslov, yet jokes about it, too. That’s just the most anguishing example of an existence defined by a private life that Foster has guarded with single-minded determination and a public version of herself she still has trouble comfortably inhabiting.
Foster admits that “Money Monster” and her work for Netflix – she recently directed episodes of “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black” – represent a new level of engagement with the outside world and its issues.
Last year’s five-time Oscar nominee, The Big Short, tackled the housing bubble crisis with four of Hollywood’s biggest stars as its leads – Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling. “You have to work hard to design a life that feels real and fulfilling and where you feel true to yourself”, Foster says.

Are you going to check out Money Monster when it hits theaters this weekend? Isn’t it unbelievable in this modern world how much closer that feels than two people standing in the same room? “I think that there’s more consciousness about it, and there’s a lot of talk about it, so that’s always a good thing”. I knew I’d have to do something to elbow my way through that door. But it didn’t feel like that to me.
