Joe Allen scores late to rescue point for Liverpool against Arsenal

Roberto Firmino’s first Anfield goals following his £29million summer move from Hoffenheim were cancelled out by Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud in 15 insane first-half minutes.

Klopp brought on Benteke in an attempt to find a spark, as well as throwing debutant defender Steven Caulker up top, and the Belgian’s muscularity helped find parity as a knockdown fell at the feet of Allen, who swept home in front of a jubilant Kop to snatch a point.

However, Olivier Giroud made it 2-2 by poking a corner past Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet at the near post and the Frenchman turned before firing in a brilliant second early in the second half.

There have been four goals in the first 25 minutes, and it’s tied at two.

Neither team stopped pressing, allowing Allen to capitalise on fellow substitute Christian Benteke’s header across the box in the last minute of normal time, securing Liverpool a share of the spoils.

Chelsea were also frustrated as West Bromwich Albion struck in the closing minutes to draw 2-2 at Stamford Bridge.

Firmino grabbed the third – and best – goal in a frantic nine-minute span when he curled a shot from 25 meters beyond Cech’s grasp.

Spurs dominated the opening stages, with Toby Alderweireld having one header saved by Kasper Schmeichel and guiding another over the bar before Leicester went close when Danny Drinkwater saw a powerful volley stopped by Hugo Lloris.

But once again the lead would not last long.

But they wrapped up the points after the break against a disappointing Hornets side that created few chances when Dusan Tadic fired home.

Arsenal, though, produced another response within six minutes.

Until then, poor defending had again threatened to prove costly as Liverpool twice surrendered the lead.

Stoke took all three points with a 3-1 home success over a Norwich side that played with 10 men for an hour after a moment of madness from midfielder Gary O’Neil.

Although Jonny Howson equalised, Joselu restored Stoke’s lead with just his second goal for the club before Ryan Bennett’s own goal sealed the three points.
