CNN said Vice President Joe Biden could enter the debate as late as the day of the event, if he decides to pursue a presidential campaign.

The debate is scheduled for 9pm ET on October 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. “File a Statement of Candidacy and register with the Federal Election Commission by August 26, 2015”, demanded the sheet, in what amounted to a requirement that candidates file their papers almost three weeks in advance of the debate.
A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll out on Monday showed Biden – who has not announced if he’ll join the race – faring far better than current Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in head-to-head matchups with top Republican presidential contenders.
Debate invitations have already been extended to Hillary Clinton, Jim Webb, Lincoln Chafee, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O’Malley.
“Of course, Dr. Biden would be on board if her husband decides to run for president but they haven’t made that decision yet”, Jill Biden spokesman James Gleeson recently said in a statement. He has been steadily creeping up in the polls over the past month, with recent surveys putting him in a solid third place with about 20 percent support among Democrats nationally. In addition, a candidate must be polling an average of at least 1 percent by the slew of polling outlets approved by CNN.
CNN anchors and correspondents will present questions to the candidates submitted through Facebook during the two-hour primetime debate.
