Joe Biden on 2016 decision: ‘I regret it every day’
On Tuesday, President Obama announced executive actions aimed at gun control. “Until we have the Congress that’s in line with the majority of Americans, there are actions within my legal authority that we can take to help reduce gun violence and save more lives”, he said. Gun dealers must conduct background checks on every sale already.

“We think that the executive orders are an arrogation of power that the President doesn’t have the ability to legislate constitutionally, which is really what these orders are”.
Hitting out at congressional Republicans for fighting against precautionary measures, the President called on America to punish them at the polls.
He explained the plan includes expanding background checks during gun sales as well as beefing up existing gun laws. “We do need to feel a sense of urgency about it. In Dr. King’s words, we need to feel the fierce urgency of now”.
Two days later, Biden ended the speculation, disappointing his supporters in the process.
OK, so the Austin GOP political crowd is probably more intrigued with his comment reflects badly on Hillary Clinton, who they love to hate, but it’s rare that you hear them say anything supportive about a Democrat, especially the No. 2 guy in the just-as-hated Obama administration.
“It would definitely minimise the inflows [of illegal guns] because people would be a lot more careful knowing that they can’t go into a store and buy a gun then claim that it got lost when they shipped it to Jamaica”, he said.
“After the president takes those steps”, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said, “Congress is still going to have a responsibility to act in their own right as well”.

Vice President Biden says he regrets his decision to not run for president. A more recent spate of gun-related atrocities, including in San Bernardino, California, shootings have spurred the administration to give the issue another look.
