Joe Carnahan To Write Uncharted Adaptation

Many courageous souls have set out to make a film adaptation of the popular video game series Uncharted, and each of them has fallen by the wayside.

Carnahan is set to begin filming Bad Boys 3 early next year, and although he’s now only attached to write the screenplay for Uncharted, he seems open to directing the project as well if Sony agrees to delay production – and given how many times Uncharted has been pushed back already, what’s another few months?

But I suppose if done well, a modern Indiana Jones remake could be fun.

Carnahan told Variety he’d also “love to” direct the adaptation, however, unless production for the film is delayed, his current shooting schedule for Bad Boys 3, which he is on board to direct, prohibits him from doing so. “Especially when you go to a museum today and wonder how a piece got there to begin with”.

The Bad Boys 3 director is only now on board to write the film. Plus, the property itself is so popular that it was hard to turn down an opportunity to work on it.

The Uncharted movie now has a new screenwriter, so we know it’s still in development – even if it’s sounding unlikely that it will hit its previously reported June 2017 release. Best known as the writer and director of Narc, Smokin Aces and The Grey, Carnahan is now getting set to direct Bad Boys III. With The A-Team, Carnahan showcased a knack for staging preposterous action powered by charismatic heroes.
