Centre-back Jan Kirchhoff and striker Dame N’Doye were both done before the first week of the window was out.

However, January signing Kirchhoff has stressed that the luck will swing Sunderland’s way if they continue to play in a similar manner.
“We will see what the manager wants to do, whether we play together”.
“I don’t know anybody who has played better than that in central midfield for anybody”.
