The guitarist left the stage at Ford Amphitheatre in Brooklyn’s Coney Island and was taken to hospital.
Cooper, frontman for the Vampires, told the crowd that Perry was “very sick before the show” and asked fans to cheer a “get well Joe” chant, an Aersosmith Facebook fan page said.
Cooper said on Twitter hours later that Perry “is stable right now, with family & is under the best care”.
A fan video, included with the story by Lars Brandle, shows Perry, 65, steadying himself as he exits behind a speaker.
Closer to Chicago, the band played Aurora’s RiverEdge Park on July 6. Watch the concert video here where Joe Perry collapsed. “He had to sit on drum kit and then went behind a small wall and passed out and FDNY and NYPD carried him off quickly”, wrote a concertgoer on Instagram. “I’m just praying he’s OK”.
The group soldiered on without Perry.
