Joel Kinnaman Was Keen To Work With David Ayer
It’s fight for a little bit of life or die trying when you’re part of the Suicide Squad, and Slipknot was willing to die trying.

The scene was shot after the rest of “Suicide Squad” wrapped, while Miller was in London filming the upcoming “Justice League” film.
Director David Ayer knows a thing or two about ensemble action flicks with the World War II tank treading of Fury, Arnold Schwarzenegger DEA drama Sabotage and the quasi-documentary police thriller End of the Watch. According to the Hollywood Reporter article, director Ayer had to compromise his initial somber vision for the film after the studio test-screened both his cut and one that was created with input from a trailer-editing house and audiences responded more favorably to the latter cut.
Early on in the film when Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang is introduced, we see how he was captured and effectively put into position to join the movie’s title band of supervillains.
Suicide Squad has the distinction of being the first movie in the DC Extended Universe that wasn’t directed by Zack Snyder.

At a recent press day to promote the film in NY, the site interviewed Ayer and discussed the scene in question. “We just got lucky because Justice League was happening and they had the uniform, they had the assets, so we were able to get that to photography”. In Suicide Squad #9 from 1989 by John Ostrander, Boomerang also convinces Slipknot to escape – but selfishly, it was just to see if A.R.G.USA weren’t bluffing with their threats.
