Joel Matip praised by Liverpool fans for “fantastic” performance against Tottenham
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur played out an entertaining draw on Saturday afternoon as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Tottenham goalkeeper Michel Vorm had earlier saved brilliantly from Coutinho, and Joel Matip had glanced a header off the bar, as Liverpool tried to make the most of their superiority.
Erik Lamela clipped Roberto Firmino as he darted into the area and although the contact did not appear to be deliberate, the penalty was given and Milner gave Vorm no chance.
Spurs remained on the back-foot, but they were level in the 72nd minute when Rose collected a loose ball inside the Liverpool box before somehow finding the bottom corner past the advancing Mignolet.
Tottenham rescued a point from their Barclays Premier League clash with Liverpool when Danny Rose rewarded a second-half fightback by firing the equaliser in a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane.
“Pochettino was terrific but then Jurgen Klopp made me feel even more relaxed”, he said.
“We started the game very well, but after 15 minutes we had a problem with Walker, so we tried to change our plan to play with two strikers”.
Having beaten Arsenal and then lost at Burnley, Klopp’s men have only four points after three games, but he felt their display against Spurs demonstrated they are on the right track.
“I think ultimately we’re disappointed”, Milner told Sky Sports.
Liverpool were unlucky to have not gotten all three points against Tottenham. We need to improve that and be more ruthless in front of goal.
“I saw Spurs as being a very good fit for me – but we were unable to agree financial terms with them. With hindsight, though, that was not a disaster”.
James Milner is now unbeaten in the 42 Premier League games he has scored in (won 34, drawn 8, lost 0). It was our first real mistake and it was a goal, so that is not really fair. I’m really happy that we have him and he will play, he will score and all will be good’.
The Reds had multiple chances to double the lead and were denied a second when Sadio Mane’s goal was disallowed for being offside.

“We struggled against teams who packed their defence, didn’t really want to play against us and just hit us on the break”.
