Joey Bosa At NFL Combine: ‘I’m The Best Player In The Draft’

Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa is still in the conversation to be the No. 1 overall pick despite what he called a disappointing Sunday at the NFL Scouting Combine. He earned first-team All-American honors from several outlets during his Ohio State career, was named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year, and earned the conference’s Defensive Lineman of the Year in back-to-back seasons. Owner Jerry Jones has publicly expressed his desire to improve their pass rush this offseason, and Bosa would certainly fit that mold.

Bosa has never played in a 3-4 defensive scheme – three down linemen, four linebackers – but said he’s prepared to do so if asked to play outside linebacker. “There are of course a lot of incredible players in the draft, and it’s going to be up to Tennessee to make that decision. That’s not how football players train!”

Due to their efforts in 2015 that saw them end their season at 6-10 and at the bottom of the AFC East, in the 2016 NFL Draft they hold the No. 6 overall pick.

“Very few teams play a (three down linemen) front in college football, so the outside linebacker projection is always an ongoing battle”, Baalke said. “I think as a top player, if you don’t believe that then there’s something wrong”.

“I mean, you watched the Super Bowl, that’s the only example I have to give”, he said. Defense won that game 100 percent. “He really showed what a pass rusher can do for a team”. Maybe once I m 50 I ll do Joe.

“Just being able to operate in the pocket, being able to get the ball from under center, and just our concepts I would say is what makes me the most pro ready”.

The first question to follow was about the targeting call that got him suspended from the Fiesta Bowl.

Since Bosa is one of the top defensive prospects in this year’s draft, plenty of teams ahead of the Dolphins might be interested in what he brings to the table as well.
