Joey Bosa, three other Ohio State players suspended for season opener
The loss of Bosa will be most noteworthy nationally as the 2014 All-American is a consensus pick to similar squads entering the 2015 season.

Ohio State wil begin its national championship defense at Virginia Tech without four players, including star defensive end Joey Bosa and H-Back Jalin Marshall. The exact reason for the suspensions is not known aside from the four “violating Department of Athletics policy”. The younger brother of current Buckeyes standout defender Joey Bosa, is the No. 1 DE in the 2016 class. Bosa is an explosive, strong and active player who uses his hands well, quickly contribute and develop into one of college football’s premier D-Lineman.
This news breaks the same day as the Buckeyes were named the number one team in the country in the preseason coaches poll.
ESPN.com’s Big Ten blogger Adam Rittenberg adds Dontre Wilson and Corey Smith are also suspended for the opener at Virginia Tech, the only team to defeat the Buckeyes a year ago.
Smith, a fifth-year senior, joined Ohio State as a junior college transfer in 2013 and saw his first action with the Buckeyes last season.
Marshall was OSU’s second-leading receiver last season as a true freshman, with 38 catches for 499 yards and six touchdowns. The absence of Marshall and Wilson – who played a more hybrid position – could lead to an immediately outsized role for Braxton Miller.

The announcement came before the start of Big Ten Media Days at the Hyatt McCormick Place in Chicago.
