Joey Feek Cancer Battle: ‘Can No Longer Get Out of Bed’
Country star Rory Feek shared a new post on his personal blog entitled “Braver Than Me”, in which he revealed that his wife Joey, who is nearing the end of her battle with cancer, can “no longer get out of bed”, but remains strong-willed.

Rory Lee Feek and Joey Martin Feek of Joey + Rory attend the 44th Annual CMA Awards at the Bridgestone Arena on November 10, 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee. Maybe it’s the pictures of her now bald head or the hospital bed in the middle of her family’s home or the way her dear daughter, Indiana, still looks at her with an innocence and a love that is only possible between a mother and daughter. “It would break my heart to have the thousands of “before” photos out there of her looking attractive and healthy all these years… be replaced in people’s minds and hearts by a single “after” photo of what cancer has done”, he wrote.
“It’s like questioning God about the twists and turns he’s brought into our life in the last few years… and asking Him “how much is too much?’ Rory wrote”.
Joey has unfathomable strength and “will to live”, her husband said, not just for herself, but also their 21-month-old daughter IN, who “gets excited every morning to see her”.
“So together, we made some decisions”. “Part of us once again believes that God is answering Joey’s prayer by healing her body and taking the cancer away, despite all the odds”.
Her husband and singing partner Rory has been keeping a blog of their story.
We are sending Rory and Joey so much love during this unbelievably challenging time. It’s what He has given us to live.
Rory started his post by admitting that he is “fiercely protective” of his wife, and said he has always been careful about what, and how much he shares, about their story. The couple first came into the spotlight as country duo Joey+Rory.
Halfway through the song, Joey asked if she could lead, and he shared, “I followed her lead as we slowly two-stepped on her mama’s living room floor”. “And she will be so crystal-clear with her thoughts, we will gather in the next room and say, ‘maybe, just maybe…?'”
“With all that she’s going through, I only want her to be seen in a good light …”, Feek writes.
“I know that. So, I carefully choose what I share”.

“I honestly didn’t want to show her, but I did. Not a cancer patient”, Rory wrote. On Sunday, he posted about the struggle they’ve been having in deciding what to share. “And so we will”.
