John Hinckley, the Man Who Shot President Ronald Regan, Is Set Free

He had shot the president in an apparent bid to impress the actress Jodie Foster, with whom he had an obsession and whom he had subjected to what would now be termed stalking. A Secret Service Agent and a Washington DC police officer were also hit but sustained only minor injuries. A Washington, D.C. policeman, Thomas Delahanty, lies to the left after also being shot.

You would think shooting and nearly killing the president would get someone locked up for the rest of their lives, either behind prison bars or in a mental institution, but today, we must show “compassion” for the would-be assassin and allow him to go home to his mother. According to the Washington Post, Hinckley has already spent some time outside the Washington psychiatric hospital where he has resided for years, spending “more than half” of his days at his mother’s residence. Reagan later forgave Hinckley.
