John Hurt Given All-Clear From Cancer
Sir John Hurt has said he is “thrilled” in regards to the results of his treatment for cancer.

He broke the news at the Man Booker Prize ceremony in London on Tuesday and spoke of his joy that he had overcome the disease.
I had a final scan and saw my oncologist and it’s all gone brilliantly.
“I am overjoyed, I am thrilled”.
Hurt, 75, revealed that he was “optimistic” about his prospects when he was diagnosed back in June.
Speaking about his illness to the Radio Times in August, he said: “I can’t say I worry about mortality, but it’s impossible to get to my age and not have a little contemplation of it. We’re all just passing time, and occupy our chair very briefly”.
“It’s extraordinary, I haven’t lost weight or anything and I’m feeling good – it’s insane”.
The 1984 actor added: “My oncologist is extremely optimistic, as indeed I am, so everything is going really well”. I like being Sir John – it works, doesn’t it?
Sir John was knighted in July in recognition of his acting career, with more than 200 on screen credits ranging from spaceman Kane in Alien and Caligula in I, Claudius to Quentin Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant, wandmaker Mr Ollivander in Harry Potter and The War Doctor in Doctor Who.
However, he went on to land a scholarship for the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and picked up TV and film roles until he had his major breakthrough, appearing in A Man For All Seasons as Richard Rich.

His agent said that reports of John Hurt being given the “all clear” are highly exaggerated, but this weeks news is encouraging.
