John Kasich hits the Oregon campaign trail

After losing four of five northeast state primaries to Clinton last Tuesday, Sanders has been shifting his focus to influencing the party platform.

The Sanders campaign has a large organizational presence on a national level and this is the first sign of a major downsizing now that a majority of the states have voted. I will knock my brains out, I will work seven days a week to make sure that that does not happen if I am the nominee and if I am not the nominee.

While not offering an exact number, Sanders said “hundreds” of people will lose their jobs, at least temporarily.

“Republicans now need to come together”, Scott added. She did not mention gun rights in that call.

JOHN YANG: But Bernie Sanders is not ready to throw in his hand.

Trump and Clinton are much better known, so new information, on its own, is less likely to change what people think of them.

Trump defended his remarks against Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, that she is only performing well because “she is a woman”.

“Well if fighting for women’s healthcare and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in”, she said to cheers.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton won slightly more, 913,000 votes, 56 percent.

“The Democrats have treated Bernie very badly and frankly I think he should run as independent”, said Trump.

Earlier in the week, Sanders’ campaign manager stressed that he would arrive at July’s Democratic convention in Philadelphia with enough sway in the form of pledged delegates to force debate on the issues dear to him.

Sanders also said the Democratic Party needs to fight for election laws that will increase voter participation, including automatic registration, same day registration and open primary elections. They were there to talk about two bills that will not get a vote this session. “And I don’t know about you, but in my political career since 1982, I have never seen anybody win every single county”.

He criticised Mrs Clinton’s handling the 2012 attack on Americans in Benghazi, Libya, and said the USA had a “reckless, rudderless and aimless foreign policy” during her time as secretary of state.

Just eight states award their Republican convention delegates on a winner-take-all basis. They will also nearly certainly wake up to a higher chance than ever of Trump being the nominee.

“Cruz’s hope of denying Trump the 1,237 looks increasingly remote”, Mahaffee said. “In business they put you in jail for collusion”.
