John Kasich to Announce for President Tuesday; Timing May Ensure Debate Spot

Who is John Kasich? He needs to be in the top ten to qualify for the first debate in Cleveland.

“That all puts Ohio in the national spotlight as a positive place to do business”, said Bob Taft, the Cincinnati Republican who served as Ohio’s governor from 1999 to 2006.

Seated on stage with the 47-year-old Walker, Kasich talked over the younger governor and disagreed vehemently with his telling of history, doing little to hide his irritation with what he considered Walker’s historical ignorance.

In 2011, Kasich was elected as governor and was re-elected for a second term in November 2014. They plan a protest outside Tuesday’s launch.

Kasich, who briefly ran for President in 2000, has been in the process of assembling a staff and recruiting fundraisers and donors since May, according to Politico. But when it comes to running for president, she wants to know who is footing the bill for it.

Kasich’s team said his announcement timing had nothing to do with the Fox debate.

Following Tuesday’s announcement in Columbus, Kasich will hit the road again with events scheduled in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Iowa and Michigan the rest of the week.

“I was willing to take beatings when I offered my own budget proposals for America, because I believed in it”, Mr. Kasich says in the 60-second ad. “The most important thing in leadership is not what you say”.

Kasich was able to unite Ohio’s firefighters, police officers, teachers, nurses, probation officers, and the overwhelming majority of Ohio voters.

But even if Kasich can get out of New Hampshire with a win or a high finish, some in the party remain skeptical that he has broader appeal to Republican primary voters.

Kasich supporters describe him as a straight shooter.

“I think he has bigger problems with the conservative base than he realizes”, said Mackowiak.

Kasich cites his Christian faith for his pragmatic mix of policy positions – favoring income-tax cuts and smaller government while supporting Medicaid expansion under the federal health care law and certain tax increases.

He is booked to actually publicly declare his designs in Columbus and can move to New Hampshire afterward Tuesday, a assert that he has recently begun the process operating televised commercials. His 55% approval in a February survey is a notable contrast with some of his rivals, including Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who are seen more negatively than positively back home.

Why now? And why New Hampshire?

Losing is a bummer, we get that, but what we don’t get is why ‘Bama coach Nick Saban is still copping pleas six months later during his SEC Media Day.

The measure was sponsored by Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, businesswoman Carly Fiorina, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former New York Gov. George Pataki.
