John Kasich wins presidential primary in Ohio

John Kasich says he won’t take the “low road” in his party’s divisive presidential primary after a home-state win in Ohio.

Earlier Rubio announced he was suspending his campaign on stage in Miami. We don’t win at trade.

“What it tells us about Kasich is he can win his home state while Marco Rubio couldn’t”, said Stuart Rothenberg, editor of the non-partisan Rothenberg Political Report.

“Someday they’re gonna understand – when we take it all they’ll understand”, Trump told supporters in Palm Beach. That resounding win helped force Rubio out of the race after failing to unite the Republican establishment against Trump.

With Rubio’s decision to drop out, three Republican candidates remain in the White House race – Trump, Kasich and Texas Sen. “I can’t guarantee a win today. I don’t know what you do at the convention with 150 delegates”.

It is not clear whether this statement was simply meant to keep up appearances or whether the senator truly had a change of heart.

With Rubio out of the race, Cruz welcomed the Florida senator’s supporters “with open arms”.

After former Republican Governor Jeb Bush quit the race, Rubio drew some of his financial backers to his side.

“Starting tomorrow morning only two campaigns have a plausible path to the nomination, ours and Donald Trump’s”.

Republican primary voters who waited until the final week to decide whom they would support favored Cruz by a 2-to-1 margin over Trump, according to preliminary results of exit polls conducted for The Associated Press and television networks by Edison Research.

In his victory speech, Kasich said he wanted to create a “climate of opportunity” for future generations and praised the campaign of Marco Rubio.

Democrat Hillary Clinton strengthened her position against Bernie Sanders with primary victories in Florida, Illinois, Ohio and North Carolina on Tuesday, putting her in a commanding position to become the first woman in USA history to win a major-party nomination.

Trump had been aiming for a sweep of all five states, including North Carolina, Missouri and IL, that would have dealt another setback to establishment Republicans who fear his rowdy campaign will lead the party to defeat in November.

“There is great anger, believe me, there is great anger”, Trump said of voters.

A steadier Clinton campaign made up for that loss, and then some, by crushing Sanders in Florida, North Carolina and OH on Tuesday, denying him a repeat. They want to see things properly taken care of.
