John Krasinski Lost A Bet And Cooks For Emily Every Week

“I always say to Emily, when someone wants a picture I’ll take a picture”, Krasinski told me at New York’s Crosby Street Hotel. Bring them back, I say.

Thanks to a lovable roll on The Office (edit note: Jim and Pam Forever) and a slew of recent blockbusters, Krasinski is already Denzel-levels of famous. It’s called “The Hollars” and he produced, directed and stars in it.

Krasinski admitted that he borrowed a few directing ideas for the project. “She goes, ‘It’s really hard. Whether you like your family or not”. It never came off as heavy handed.

While Krasinski isn’t quite as jacked as he was while filming the Benghazi movie, he’s motivated to keep hitting the weights. “I cry so easily”. Josh Ritter’s soundtrack also works well, his upbeat music and smart, literate lyrics about struggle and pain mirroring the feel of the film.

“There’s a lot of insane stuff going on in the world so I think it’s really nice to have these movies”, Krasinski said.

Speaking about why he is starting to spend more time in the kitchen on the ABC chat show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, he said: “We made a stupid bet and I lost”. Was this your experience?

“I think that’s really important for my kids”, the 13 Hours actor continues.

John Krasinski is pretty sure some of his favorite movies wouldn’t get made in today’s Hollywood. I was completely viscerally moved and inspired in a whole new way.

“But at the same time, all the clichés are true”, he continues. I’m glad I have a couple of movies down, but someone said yesterday they’re hiring people who do these indie movies to do the bigger movies now, and to me it’s all about story.

I think [before I had a daughter] I idealized what it meant to be a parent. “So I would love to take on a bigger budget movie and try to apply the specificity that I did on this to a bigger movie, that’s the challenge”. I think the only strategy I had was I didn’t want to play anything that seemed like Jim.
