FILE – In this December 14, 1980, file photo, people jam the street at Central Park West and 72nd Street in NY, just outside the Dakota apartment house where John Lennon lived, after leaving a memorial service held at the bandshell in Central Park, across the street.

His killer, Mark David Chapman, is serving a prison sentence of 20 years to life. He has been denied several attempts at parole, the most recent in August 2014. The John Lennon Signature Box, released that year to commemorate Lennon’s 70th birthday, is a deluxe, 11CD and digital collection of the eight remastered albums, plus rare and previously unreleased recordings, and an EP of Lennon’s non-album singles.

His life would forever be memorialized by Strawberry Fields in Central Park, where a mosaic spelling out “Imagine”, the title of Lennon’s classic song, attracts tourists and fans to this day.

John Lennon, who started and ended The Beatles, will soon have his solo catalog remastered for the “Lennon” vinyl collection.

Palma said she became hysterical when doctors told her that Lennon was dead. John is signing his autograph on an album cover for Chapman, who would murder the former Beatle later that same day. Lennon was shot four times with hollow-point bullets, which Chapman chose because they were “more deadly”.

Today, thirty-five years later all we can do is to imagine what might have happened had Lennon not been murdered.

The session, at the famous Record Factory studio, was a happy one with Lennon telling his wife she had just completed her first No1 single at the culmination of recording.

Today Ono took to Twitter and announced that over one million people have been killed by guns in the U.S. since Lennon’s killing. “Right after that, Jann and I were involved with starting an organisation called CeaseFire”, Douglas was quoted as saying by the New York Daily News.
