John Lewis on Sanders’ civil rights work: ‘Never saw him’
“I never saw him, I never met him. I’m not going to vote for someone I don’t know”. In South Carolina, the Democratic Party chairman once famously dismissed the notion that Democrats buy “the black vote” down there. “Many people dislike her intensely”.

Both Clinton and Vermont Sen. If Bernie Sanders ends up looking like the clear victor of the Democratic primary, superdelegates will flip over and support him in the name of party unity. According to New Hampshire primary exit polling reported by CBS, Sanders beat Clinton by almost 60 points among women ages 18 to 29. In their opening statements, both Clinton and Sanders nodded to issues that concern African-American voters.
The former president is scheduled to appear at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center at 3 p.m. Friday.
With the next democratic primary being held in SC, the CBC-PAC is urging voters to support Clinton where African-American voters are key and can move more delegates in her direction.
He says the rules were never designed “to have everybody drop out after a certain time – it’s just the way it’s worked historically because people have run out of money or they don’t see a path forward”.
She also said Sanders’ plans would upend the Affordable Care Act – though Sanders said he would not “dismantle” it. Even though Clinton remains ahead in national polls, her resounding defeat in New Hampshire Tuesday and the Iowa caucus indicated her campaign is vulnerable to Sanders’ rise.
The Granite State celebrated the 100th anniversary of its primary with one of the highest voter turnouts in history, giving Trump the numbers he needed to meet expectations after leading in the polls for months. “Maybe has a kind of a Bulworth moment and shows a human side, kind of like she was in New Hampshire in 2008”. And Clinton’s not likely to stop hitting Sanders on his opposition to longer waiting periods for gun purchases.
In his campaign appearances in the state, Sanders has made sure to mention that he attended King’s 1963 March on Washington and “I Have a Dream” speech. Let her have her shot so she will finally go away. Sanders is fresh off his historic win and after her stinging loss, Clinton is expected to fight aggressively.
Following the PAC’s endorsement, thousands of black voters from SC and beyond took to social media to express their opinions on the matter.
Increasingly, young, black college-aged voters are turning lukewarm on Clinton. Rubio campaign manager Terry Sullivan is from SC. “But if a Democratic nominee starts off with half the voters unwilling to consider someone like him, that’s a huge advantage for the Republican nominee”. I met Hillary Clinton. Why should I listen to her?
“When it mattered, he stood up and took on Wall Street”, she said. “I like the way she talks”.
Clinton toed a careful line in her answer – she didn’t criticize Albright (rather, she noted that Albright has been saying that for years), and she added that she wants women and men alike to make “the best decisions they can make”.
Sanders acknowledged his challenge in Nevada and SC. Rejecting a populist Sanders insurgency to anoint Clinton is not a good look for the party – either for a general election battle or its long-term reputation.
Her aides believe the next two contests and the primaries that follow in March, where minority voters make up a larger slice of the electorate than in overwhelmingly white Iowa and New Hampshire, could essentially decide the race.

“I think that a lot of Democrats underestimated the extent to which there are a lot of Democrats that are just as disgusted with the status quo as a lot of the same Republicans that are supporting Donald Trump”, Cook said.
