John McCain Blasts Donald Trump’s Comments Over Fallen Muslim US War Hero
As the feud between the Republican nominee and Khizr and Ghazala Khan (the parents of a fallen soldier) continues, Donald Trump is being criticized from Republicans and Democrats alike.

It has dominated the news cycle ever since Pakistani immigrant Khizr Khan galvanised the Democratic National Convention last Thursday with a tribute to his dead son in which he rebuked the Republican nominee for having “sacrificed nothing” for the country.
“Donald Trump and I believe that Captain Humayun Khan is an American hero and his family, like all Gold Star families, should be cherished by every American”, the statement read.
Ghazala Khan, who teared up in one interview, rejected Trump’s suggestion in an interview with ABC News that she may not have been “allowed” to speak during her Democratic National Convention appearance.
“Good Muslims” are those who fight terrorism either by enlisting in the US military forces or engaging in counterterrorism programs. “Captain Khan was one such courageous example”, Ryan said.
The outcry was swift and bipartisan, leaving Trump largely isolated among his fellow Republicans and potentially putting at risk whatever progress he made during his convention. Arizona Senator and former Republican presidential candidate John McCain denounced Trump’s criticism in a 700-word statement.
“Election year or not, the VFW will not tolerate anyone berating a Gold Star family member for exercising his or her right of speech or expression”, VFW leader Brian Duffy said. “That’s what we can expect under Trump, a country that will defend itself”, he said.
“There is never enough honor we can show to the families of those whose loved ones have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country”, said Thornberry, who chairs the House Armed Services Committee. Trump on Sunday tweeted that Khan’s son had died 12 years ago: “Captain Khan, killed 12 years ago, was a hero, but this is about RADICAL ISLAMIC TERROR and the weakness of our “leaders” to eradicate it!”
“I think I have made a lot of sacrifices”, Trump said. She adds, “McCain’s statement today makes clear that he really wants Hillary Clinton in the White House, and his tepid “support” for Trump is only disingenuous pandering”.
The president conceded that troop levels have dropped somewhat from the height of the Afghan and Iraq wars.
Trump retaliated by attacking the Khizr Khan via Twitter.
A rising chorus of Republican lawmakers and veterans groups hastened to disavow Donald Trump’s repeated criticism of a bereaved military family Monday, but the GOP presidential nominee refused to back down.
On a post-convention bus tour through OH and Pennsylvania, Democratic rival Hillary Clinton said Trump has a “total misunderstanding” of American values and has inflamed divisions in American society.
“He doesn’t know what it is to receive an American flag that has been folded and given to you as part of a funeral for the fallen”, Saldivar said, trying to hold back her own emotions.

Pence’s statement came after an afternoon of debate among his aides as to whether he should find a way to dissociate himself subtly from Trump’s comments, according to a person familiar with the internal campaign conversations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss them publicly. “I hope Americans understand that the remarks do not represent the views of our Republican Party, its officers or candidates”. “In an ideal world we would have a candidate who would appropriately recognize his comments and apologize for them, but that’s not the situation right now”. She had nothing to say. And yet, a private citizen in this political process, in his candidacy for the stewardship for this country – I can not say what I feel?
