John McCain blasts Trump for comments about soldier’s family

Trump on Monday renewed his assault against Khan as families of other fallen USA soldiers demanded the tycoon apologize and prominent Republicans criticized his disparagement of the bereaved father and mother. On Monday, Trump redirected his comments to focus on “radical Islamic terrorism” rather than the Khan family.

Donald Trump said I had nothing to say. I do.

Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight Oliver juxtaposed a clip from Khizr Khan’s speech with a recent Trump interview, in which The Donald suggested that the Khans’ loss of their army captain son was akin to his efforts building skyscrapers.

She says she chose not to speak because she was too overcome with emotion. Not the part where she left her home and raised her family in a country she loved, but where the potential future president talked about her like she was an unwelcome burden on society and also probably a terrorist.

“There is nobody who admires John McCain more, and wants him to be reelected more, than me”.

Mrs. Khan pushed back against Trump’s thinly veiled insults in an op-ed for the Washington Post published on Sunday.

[Trump has] a black soul, and this is totally unfit for the leadership of this country. He has mocked a reporter with a disability…

Mr Khan, who spoke about their son Humayun Khan, a captain killed by a vehicle bomb, also attacked Mr Trump’s stance on minorities in his speech. Lindsey Graham of SC.

“Honestly, the main takeaway from these two weeks is that, incredibly, we may be on the brink of electing such a damaged, sociopathic narcissist, that the simple presidential duty of comforting the families of fallen soldiers may actually be beyond his capabilities”, Oliver continued.

Khan said he received an email Monday “from a very prominent Republican” who said this would be the first time that he would not vote and that he has received similar emails from other life-long Republicans saying they will not vote for Trump because he doesn’t deserve their support. Meanwhile, Republican leaders have scrambled to disavow Trump’s sentiments while praising Humayun Khan.

To call the heartfelt expressions of grieving Gold Star parents “a cynical political stunt” is itself an cynical political stunt. Capt. Khan is a hero.

It’s refreshing to hear this from McCain, who’s own military service was besmirched by Trump a year ago. “They serve as a powerful reminder of the true strength of America”.

Ghazala and Khazir Khan. All Americans should value the patriotic service of ‎the patriots who volunteer to selflessly defend us in the armed services. Kelly Ayotte, a Republican seeking re-election in one of the nation’s most competitive Senate contests.

Obama said that Gold Star families “have made a sacrifice that most of us can not begin to imagine”.

McCain, a war hero and former POW in Vietnam, added: “I challenge the nominee to set the example for what our country can and should represent”.

This morning. Sen. John McCain criticized the real-estate mogul’s comments and said, “While our party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us”. “I can not emphasize enough how deeply I disagree with Mr. Trump’s statement”.

“Let me say this”. “There is no question they were being politically exploited by the Democrats but if you leave them unanswered and get off the subject, I don’t think there will be much political impact”.
