After a awful two months that saw her forced resignation as Democratic National Committee chairwoman, Wasserman Schultz turned back the first primary challenge of her career Tuesday and likely won a seventh term in Congress.

And on Tuesday, Canova’s long-shot attempt will come to a head when he and Wasserman Schultz face off in the Democratic House primary for Florida’s 23rd Congressional district. Canova raised $3.3 million in mostly small-dollar donations from supporters of Sen.

Wasserman Schultz also kept pace with Canova financially: She raised $3.4 million. He benefited again when Wasserman Schultz was caught up in the leak of emails showing top DNC officials criticizing and discussing ways to undermine Sanders’ presidential primary campaign against Hillary Clinton.

Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who won the Republican primary on Tuesday. With 37 percent of precincts reporting, the Associated Press reported a devastating loss for Alan Grayson, with 17.9 percent, against Patrick Murphy, who took 59.2 percent.

Just a few months ago, the Florida Senate primaries looked to be marquee contests as each party maneuvered to fill the seat that Rubio pledged to vacate.

Murphy, who is endorsed by President Obama and Vice President Biden, joined Congress after upsetting Tea Party favorite GOP Rep. Allen West in a 2012 race eventually decided by a partial recount. Rubio had run for the presidency but was defeated by Donald Trump.

Rubio would face off against the victor of the Democratic primary – either Rep. Patrick Murphy, favored by establishment forces, or the fiery, controversial populist Rep. Alan Grayson.

Rubio had announced his intention to retire from the Senate until GOP leaders led by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell lured him into running for re-election in June.

Rubio and McCain are supporting Trump for president, albeit with obvious reluctance after they were the target of his insults and Rubio ran against Trump for the White House. She will face Republican Joe Kaufman in November.

U.S. Coast Guard officials say Lake Champlain is more treacherous for boaters this summer due to its low water level, which has contributed to an overall increase in reported crashes.

Rubio made a last-minute decision to seek another term and almost cleared what was a crowded Republican field. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) – Rubio chose to wage a last-minute bid for a second Senate term and defeated homebuilder Carlos Beruff, along with three other challengers.

Today is primary election day in Florida, and polls will close at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Her five-plus years as the helm of the Democratic National Committee ended abruptly last month in a firestorm of controversy after hacked internal party emails posted by WikiLeaks showed national Democratic Party staffers under Wasserman Schultz favored Clinton over Sanders while the presidential primaries were underway.
