John McEnroe tips Great Britain for Davis Cup glory

“To me, Great Britain should win”, The Mirror quotes McEnroe as saying. “The movements and stresses are different from those on grass courts and I am the first to admit that I do not react or adapt well to them”, said Murray during a break in training. “There will be pressure for Murray, but the way he handled it against Australia [in the semi-final], he’ll handle it again and win two singles, and it would be nice if he did it again with his brother [elder sibling Jamie]”.

Andy Murray is performing a delicate balancing act as he prepares for a claycourt Davis Cup final and the ATP World Tour Finals on an indoor hardcourt at the o2 Arena.

‘Great Britain are definitely the favourites.

Given that experience and the fact that his career took off again only after he teamed up with John Peers at the start of 2013, eyebrows were raised even in the promiscuous world of men’s doubles when the Scot and the Australian revealed last month that they would be playing with new partners next year.

Djokovic has beaten Murray 10 times in their last 11 meetings.

Henman said: “The pressure on Andy is that he has to win three matches for Britain and if you look at the ties he has already played in, he has been outstanding”.

“We both wanted a bit of a change, a fresh start”, Murray said when asked why he had split with Peers. Obviously we’ve had a great year, won a lot of matches, played a few big matches, a few big tournaments but I’m looking forward to playing with Bruno.

“I just have to respect the whole process of what I’m going to be doing over the next week or so”.

‘In the Davis Cup final, everything just worked out perfectly for me. I didn’t like the dryness.

‘But I was in a zone when I played [John] Lloyd and [Buster] Mottram.

“I’ll probably do two hours of quite intense work on Tuesday and then on Wednesday and Thursday I will train very hard”. Turned out not everything was that easy’.
