Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri is too fat to play, according to new boss Pep Guardiola.

Everton are rumoured to have already rebuffed a bid of, and the media were reporting yesterday that Pep Guardiola was readying another bid for the defender.

Goalkeeper Angus Gunn became Manchester City’s hero as he saved three penalties in a shoot-out against Borussia Dortmund in Shenzhen, China.

However, the Catalan coach said he would be happy with his squad if a deal for Stones did not materialise. They are so strong, that’s why I’m so happy how we did.

Manchester City are in talks with Everton over the possible signing of England defender John Stones.

He added: “He said if he (Guardiola) could play 11 midfielders, he would play them”.

“We will see what happens”. However, the Spaniard has not found things to be as rosy upon his arrival in English shores.

Apparently, he did not make the cut – further raising doubts about his future at City – despite Guardiola’s blasé responses masking what looks like a non-blasé approach to running his football side.

Guardiola knows he has to improve an attack that has Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva to support Sergio Aguero, but counts Raheem Steling as its only pacy player who is up to City’s standard. We need to run, to fight, to jump – to have the ball. “When you are not fit, that’s when the injuries come”. And last season he was overweight and he was injured all the season. “They are not fast enough, quick in the head enough and that’s why I want my players to be absolutely fit”. “For example, you often hear managers say being healthy is really important”.

“Every manager has their own philosophy and for sure he’s coming with his own ideas and it’s quite refreshing for us”.

“We play football. It’s a job, and you have to take responsibility for what you do on the field”. It’s completely different and it’s new, so we need to learn fast and we will try to do it.
