John Sullivan undergoes 2nd back procedure
“It’s disappointing”, Zimmer said.

Two weeks ago, John Sullivan was running and anticipated returning soon from back surgery. During his Monday press conference, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said that Sullivan needed to have a second operation on his back after suffering a setback in his rehab. That one-time designation meant Sullivan had to sit out a minimum of eight weeks. Sullivan can stay on IR-to-return this week before the Vikings need to either activate him, or place him on season-ending injured reserve. He was eligible to return in Week 9.
Floyd missed last week’s game against Detroit and it’s not clear when he’ll return. “We don’t know when he’ll back or if he’ll be back [this year]”.
The scariest part of that statement is at the very end, where Zimmer states that he’s unsure if Sullivan will return at all from the injury. Sullivan, 30, was optmistic about his chances, adding he was told by a doctor the rest of the discs in his back “looked all right, so it shouldn’t be something we have a recurrance of”.
The Minnesota Vikings’ offensive line, which has struggled for much of the season, could have to go without one of its best linemen for the rest of the year.

“I’ve heard all kinds of ranges, so we’ll see”, Zimmer said. Tom Johnson started at defensive tackle in place of Floyd last week and will likely remain in the starting lineup while Floyd is out. We’ve had a few mishaps here and there when we’ve had the wrong assignments. He’s among the highest graded players at the pivot in the entire league by Pro Football Focus, and is by far the highest-graded member of the team’s offensive line thus far.
