Johnny Depp and Amber Heard to divorce

After Amber filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for spousal support, Johnny – who is estimated to be worth around $400 million – responded through his lawyer Laura Wasser asking for Amber’s maintenance claim to be turned down.

They exchanged vows at two ceremonies in February 2015 – the first at their home in West Hollywood and again on Depp’s private Bahamian island. The papers state their date of separation as being May 22, 2016.

Heard and Depp never signed a prenuptial agreement.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are set to divorce after just over a year of marriage, according to reports. As part of their plea deal, Heard and Depp also had to issue a videotaped apology to Australian authorities.

The 30-year-old actress got “cold feet” about the wedding during their engagement party in March 2014.

Depp is now promoting his latest fantasy movie Alice Through the Looking Glass, due to be released on Friday. She pleaded guilty to falsifying documents in April. They also thought that she was after his money and using his star power to further her own career.

In Heard’s filing, she asked the court to have Depp pay her spousal support and attorney fees. They share daughter Lily-Rose, 16, and son Jack, 14.

The couple Wednesday in February, 2015, just over a year after Johnny asked Amber to be his wife.

The pair met when they starred in the Bruce Robinson-directed film ‘The Rum Diaries’, and recently hit the headlines when the couple tried to illegally bring their dogs into Australia.

The Australian court case started a year ago when Heard brought two dogs into the country where her husband was filming the latest movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Depp has one previous marriage and was in a long relationship with French actress and model Vanessa Paradis before he began dating Heard. The video was widely ridiculed for Depp’s wooden delivery.
